Cakes for Special Occasions

frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  What does a no obligation consultation involve?

A.  Consultations are completely free and are held by appointment only in order to give you the full attention you deserve.  During the appointment I will collect lots of information about your special event/wedding such as: style of cake, flavours, colours, sponge/fruit, portions needed and date etc. This will allow me to accurately quote you for your cake.  I prefer to have a consultation for all types of cake required so I can get a true feeling for the expectations of the client.

Q.  When should I order my cake?

A.  Ideally, if it is a wedding cake, as soon as you can, giving at least 4 months notice as I purposely limit my workload and can get booked up very quickly.  Celebration cakes can be done with less notice as they do not take as much time to complete.

Q.  Can I have my cake delivered?

A.  You can either collect your cake, or if you wish I can deliver and set up your cake.  There may be a delivery charge, but this will depend on the distance from KP Kakes to your event, please contact me for further information.

Q.  Do your cakes contain Nuts?

A.  I cannot guarantee that all our cakes are nut free.  I can exclude nuts from recipes but there may be traces of nuts from other ingredients used in our kitchen.

Q.  Should I have a 'cutting cake' in addition to my wedding cake?

A.  For extra pieces it can be useful to have a cutting cake.  I can provide you with an undecorated cake which will be made exactly the same as your 'real' wedding cake but without the intricate decoration.
