KP Kakes: Terms & Conditions

Full terms and conditions for KP Kakes are detailed below.  Placing an order and paying your deposit will deem that the terms and conditions are understood and accepted.

All prices quoted by KP Kakes are tailored to the design and size of your cake. Following your consultation, paying your deposit secures the price and reserves the requested date.  Karen at KP Kakes purposely limits her workload ensuring high quality at all times.

On placing your order, a non-refundable deposit of £50 will secure your booking and cover any initial preparation work.  However, unlike many other establishments, should you change your mind, you have the right to cancel within 7 days of placing your order and receive a full refund of your deposit.

Payment of Balance

The remaining balance (cleared funds) is required at least 14 days in advance of delivery / collection.

Late Payments

If full payment is not received and/or cleared in our account before the event then the order will not be released.

If cancellation of the event takes place before 14 days prior to delivery/collection we reserve the right to retain your deposit.  If cancellation of the event takes place within 14 days prior to delivery/collection we reserve the right to retain your full payment.  Cancellation must be made in writing (letter or email) to KP Kakes.  If you postpone the event we will make every effort to transfer your order providing the date is suitable for KP Kakes, otherwise it shall be treated as a cancellation (see above). We retain the right to cancel the booking in very unusual circumstances beyond our control, such as fire or ill health, during which we will refund any money taken in full.

Please read and check your quote thoroughly; any request for changes to the design should be made in writing (letter or email) as soon as possible.  We will attempt to adjust the design where feasible, but sometimes this may not be achievable due to the nature of the request or amount of notice given.  If the changes affects the cost, or if preparation work for the original design has already been undertaken, then your balance may be adjusted accordingly.  Each cake is made individually by hand, so although every effort is made to ensure consistency, a small amount of variation may occur from any picture supplied due to artistic interpretation.

Special Diets

Please inform us if any of your guests have special dietary requirements.  Please be aware that although certain ingredients can be removed from the cakes they are still used in our kitchen, therefore we cannot guarantee that any of our cakes are completely free of all traces for people who are highly sensitive.

Non-Edible Items

Most cakes contain small proportions of inedible items; it is the client’s responsibility to ensure these are removed by your caterer/guests before consumption eg. Support dowels in tiered cakes, toothpicks in novelty cakes, ribbon, wires in sugar flowers and flower picks.

Wedding cakes within a 10 miles range of Sutterton will be delivered and set up free of charge; the delivery charge beyond 10 miles will be calculated on a mileage and time basis.  Alternatively, cakes can be collected from KP Kakes.

If you choose delivery, it is our intention that your cake will be delivered in perfect condition prior to the start of your event/reception.  It is your responsibility to ensure that you inform us of your correct event/reception time plus the address and postcode of the venue.  We cannot be held liable for any damage that is rendered to the cake at the venue once we have delivered or setup the cake.

If you chose to collect the cake, KP Kakes will not be held liable for any damage to the cake once it has left our premises.  Tiered cakes are most at risk during transport, so please seek our advice on how to transport it, and we highly recommend you check that your wedding insurance covers cake damage.  To ensure your cake is as fresh as possible, we recommend it is collected the day before or even on the day of the event.

Late requests for delivery (after securing the booking based on collection) will be accommodated where possible, but cannot be guaranteed.

Cake Positioning

It is the clients’ responsibility to ensure arrangements are made for the cake table, linen, cake stand and ceremonial knife, which should all be setup prior to our arrival.  On request, we can provide a cake stand and knife for hire.  Please take extra care to ensure a stable cake table if you are having a marquee wedding, as surrounding floor boards can easily sway the cake table once stood on.

Please remember that cake decorations are very delicate items, and we cannot accept responsibility for damage that is

rendered to the cake after it has left our possession.  If any damage is rendered to the cake after it has left our possession, then you can advise us and request a repair, which will be priced accordingly, including transport costs if appropriate.

Cake Cutting

For your photo, please cut the base tier of your cake, unless it is a dummy cake, in which case you should cut the tier above.  If using a pedestal cake stand, please take care not to put undue pressure on one side of the cake, to ensure it remains stable.

Hire of Cake Stand / Ceremonial Knife

If you would like to hire a cake stand (£20) and/or a ceremonial knife (£5), then it is your responsibility to ensure that

the non-refundable hire charge(s) plus a deposit of £50 (cake stand) and/or £15 (knife) which are refundable on return if undamaged, is provided prior to the event.  After your wedding, please ensure arrangements are made to safely return the stand and/or knife within 48 hours of the wedding.  If the cake stand and/or knife is left at the venue for us to collect, then your deposit(s) will be kept to pay for this collection service.

In the extremely unlikely event that you have concerns about your cake, please notify us upon delivery / inspection so that we have the opportunity to rectify it in time for your event, by contacting Karen on her mobile 07963 521435.  We highly recommend a member of the family / event manager as the designated point of contact for the day, to help ensure everything runs smoothly.  Any complaints after the event must be notified in writing (electronic means are acceptable) within 48 hours of the start of the event, providing evidence of the issue as necessary.  If there is a problem with the taste of the cake in the opinion of the customer, then a proportion of the cake is to be returned to KP Kakes for examination.  If cake is not returned within 24 hours of the complaint, then discussion into the complaint cannot be entered into.
